Siemens industrial automation
PLC and operator interface programming
S7-300 on STEP 7, S7-1200 and S7-1500 on TIA Portal. New machines, running installations, and the programs nobody can read any more.
From a small standalone installation to a complete production line.
Three ways to work together
New projects
Architecture, sequential control, operating modes, safety, part traceability. WinCC Comfort and Unified HMI. Process control, PID loops and multi-zone temperature control.
- Special-purpose machines and production lines
- Standalone stations on S7-1200, complete lines on S7-1500
- Virtual FAT validation before any site work
Legacy takeover and upgrades
Many installations run on programs written twenty years ago and patched by successive contractors. Analysis, restructuring, documentation — without changing the hardware.
- Adding a station, a function, or a new cycle rate
- Often more sensible than funding a full rebuild
- No automatic conversion: a new program is written after analysing the actual need
Embedded web pages
S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs include a web server. The control logic stays in the PLC and the page is only a display: if the interface fails, the machine keeps running.
- Viewable from any browser, no licence, no dedicated PC
- Machine diagnostics and production data reporting
- An interface for a machine with no HMI panel, on S7-1200 as well as S7-1500
How I work
Remote, with hands on site
Study, development and documentation are done remotely. Commissioning is assisted and staged: a documented step-by-step procedure with pass criteria, and I guide your team or your integrator through each stage.
Your version, not mine
Every TIA Portal release from V14 onwards, and STEP 7 V5, are kept on dedicated virtual machines. I work in the version running at your site: your engineering station keeps access to the program.
Your standard when required
A consistent in-house programming standard — naming, architecture, block library, documentation. Client standards applied in full when imposed, which is common with large accounts.
Translatable interface
Operator-facing texts are kept outside the program. Adding a language touches neither the PLC nor the HMI structure — translation is an interface matter, not a control matter.
Archiving and traceability
Each project gets a private authenticated area: versioned TIA archives, backups, documentation, reports. Hosted in Europe. Or on your own platform, as you prefer.
Confidentiality
Work described without client names, mostly subcontracted for special-purpose machine builders. The same confidentiality will apply to your projects.
Industries
Twenty years in special-purpose machinery and production lines, across a wide range of industrial environments.
About
Yoan Férot-MazillyAutomation engineer, owner of Industep
Twenty years in the trade, fourteen of them running an automation integration company: design, programming and commissioning of special-purpose machines and production lines, in France and internationally.
Owner, but first and foremost hands-on — studies, programming and commissioning carried out personally. Siemens Expert training level for industrial controllers and supervision. Manufacturer training in applied process control.
Now independent, based in Madagascar, UTC+3. Invoicing in euros.
Automation is not just for industry
A pump to control, a level to monitor, a temperature to regulate, a small station to automate. Farms, workshops, small businesses, individuals: these projects matter as much as production lines, and an S7-1200 is usually enough.
On these installations I handle the complete solution — from understanding the need through to commissioning, including the panel drawing when it stays simple. Describe what you need, however modest it may seem.
